    104609 - Judo

    104609 - Judo

Judo does not involve kicking, punching, or striking techniques of any kind. And so is a purely defensive sport, based on other personís aggressive moves and your response to them. Judo simply involves two individuals who, by gripping the judo uniform or judogi, use the forces of balance, power, timing and movement to attempt to subdue each other. Thus, it is simple and basic. In its simplicity, however, lies its complexity, and mastery of even the most basic of judo techniques. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponents down to the ground, control them, and apply various techniques until submission. Promotions are based on competitions from the green, brown and black belt ranks. The lower ranks are based on technique and practice time. Four competitions are mandatory per year. Uniforms are mandatory please see instructor on the first class. This is a great cross training system for wrestlers of any age! (JU)
