    512006 - Screen Free Week

    You are invited to join “Screen-Free Week”, the annual celebration where families, and communities around the world turn off screen media (video games, smartphones, tablets, and computers) and turn on LIFE! Take the week to unplug and play, create, explore nature, get active and spend more time with family and friends. This annual event is hosted by: Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood. The West Chicago Park District offers many opportunities for families to play together at the ARC Center or in our parks. For a list of ideas go on-line to we-goparks.org to print a list of activities available throughout the week. (ML)

    Step I- Get a “Screen-Free Week Score Card” (available April 3)
    • Go on-line to we-goparks.org and print
    • Go to ARC Center front desk to pick up

    Step II- Enjoy 7 days of activities where you “turn-off” the screen and get active for 60 minutes or more each day. Score card will list activity opportunities throughout WCPD.

    Step III- Turn in your completed “Screen-Free Score Card” to the West Chicago Park District
    • Email a picture of your completed card to mlester@we-goparks.org
    • Drop-off completed card at the ARC Center front desk
    • Mail completed card postmarked no later than Monday, May 15, 2017 to:

    • Please make sure name and phone number are legible

    Step IV: All cards will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
    Prize drawing will take-place on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
    All winners will be called and posted on the West Chicago Park District web-site we-goparks.org.

    Prizes: (1) Family of 4 Annual Pool Pass
    (1) One Month Tree House Annual Pass or Fitness Center Pass (depending on age of winner)
    (1) (4) Daily passes to Fitness Center, Tree House, or Open Gym (depending on age of winner)

    Rules: For a copy of the rules please go to we-goparks.org or pick up at the ARC Center in April.

    512015 - Breakfast with the Bunny

    Join us at the ARC Center for breakfast with the Easter Bunny before the American Legion’s Annual Egg Hunt held at 10 a.m. sharp in Reed-Keepler Park. Don’t forget your camera, as each child will have a chance to visit with Easter Bunny and then color an Easter picture frame from 8-8:30 a.m., breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:00 a.m. and an Easter story and activities will begin at 9:15 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. the Easter Bunny will be hopping to the Easter Egg Hunt. Pre-registration is requested for all adults and children planning to attend. Fee is per person and there is no charge for children age one and under, however they still need to be registered. Registration deadline Mon., April 10. (ML)

    Dads put on your best Hawaiian shirt and invite your little sweetheart to the West Chicago Park District ARC Center for a “Hawaiian Luau” with dinner and dancing. The evening begins with complimentary pictures upon your arrival then dinner of chicken fingers, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and Hawaiian baked beans. Save room for fruit kabob brownies for dessert. Following dinner grab your sweetheart as D.J. Jeff Kruse plays all your favorite dance songs. Dads don’t forget to pre-order a single stemmed rose $3.00 for your little sweetheart when you register. The evening begins with complimentary pictures upon your arrival then dinner of pizza, chicken fingers with dipping sauce, mac n’ cheese, fruit and veggie trays and Hulk pudding cups for dessert.
